Can't kick the habit!

It's terrible, tonight I just had to do some baking so I have two 10" chocolate truffle cakes in the oven and all the speciality flours ordered for my new artisan gluten-free cupcakes. So if you have a gluten, dairy or egg intolerance don't let it stop you from ordering some of my scrummy yummy cupcakes once my kitchen is up and running again in August!!  There are some wonderful recipes including a melt in the mouth caramel apple pie cupcake and truly indulgent dulce de leche cupcakes.  Have I got your mouth watering yet?  If I have then make sure you're one of the first to taste what comes out of my new kitchen in a few weeks time!

Time out to decorate!

Just a quick post to let you all know that unfortunately I  won't be able to take on any more work until  the third week in August.  This is due to the fact that I actually don't have a work room or proper kitchen at the moment.  I have had to turn away 6 jobs in the last week and a half and that is  a horrible feeling, but hopefully those who have call will do so again.  Please keep an eye out for two last cakes at the end of July and please keep on recommending me to your friends!

The Last Cake For A While

I was up bright and early this morning to make the cupcakes for my baby shower cupcake tower so that they would be lovely and fresh for the lucky recipients!

The cake is a sumptuous chocolate truffle cake and the cupcakes are Hummingbird  vanilla flavour, this perticular recipe is very light and the cakes last well!

One Down One to Go!

It has been a challenge this week in the kitchen but there is a light at the end of the tunnel if not in my kitchen.  All I need to do now is make and decorate some cupcakes and then I can hit the gin and tonic!!!

A very productive afternoon!

In amongst all the chaos I have actually had a very good day. This morning I baked three cakes and this afternoon I have made the fondant bow for the christening cake and the bootie (I had already made the bootie but I wasn't happy with it) and on top of that I've also managed to pop out 15 babies!!!! If only they were that easy to produce in real life.

Anyhow, I thought you might like a sneak preview of my new brood!

It's Horrible Turning Away Work.

This time next week I will have to pack up my entire kitchen to enable the back wall to be knocked out!  Because of this I have had to turn down 5 jobs in the last week and that is a horrible feeling when you think that it's not just that work that you have lost but also the work that comes from it.

I met an old school friend from 30 years ago in the playground yesterday and she told me that she loves looking at all my cakes on Facebook and also remarked that they are so lifelike that it must be hard to tell what is real and what is cake in my house!  I would actually like to do  replicas of my lovely red Delonghi coffee machine and toaster.

So if you are thinking of ordering a cake in September please come up with some imaginative ideas that ! can work on! x

Chaos reigns!

To say that my kitchen is a little dark at the moment is the understatement!  This is due to the super duper new kitchen extension that we are having built.  Because of this and all the painting that I'm going to be doing I am scaling down my work load for about 6 weeks until I have a beautiful bright kitchen to bake all my lovely cakes in!  You may have also noticed the name change, and if you haven't already done so, it would be great if you could 'like' my new Face Book page "Scrummy Mummy's Cakes".  you can get there by clicking on the Face Book logo on the top right hand side of this page or by following this link

There are two lovely cakes still to come at the end of the week, one is for a christening and the other for a baby shower.

Thank you for your continued support x

A cake for my sister and my niece

This weekend we are travelling up to Warrington for a party at my sister's to celebrate both my sister and my niece's birthdays.  I have been working my socks off today to get them a cake made to take up with me and this is what I've come up with as they both love shoes!

Lots and lots of preparation!

At last I have finished my second wedding this month, and wow did it take some hours to complete!  It consists of a fruit cake top and bottom tier and an orange and poppy seed with orange buttercream middle tier.  Assembling it all took nearly as long as making the individual components but now it's complete I am absolutely thrilled!

That's me done and dusted!

I can relax now and head for the weekend and all the lovely packing up coming my way.  Only two rooms to empty and one wall to be knocked out, fun, fun, fun!
Anyhow, here it is, Mickey Mouse!

Still lots to do!

I have just handed over a batch of cupcakes and cookiepops to a customer who is now transporting them all the way to London for a party, I hope she doesn't get stuck in any traffic jams and get peckish!
I have also just finished another batch of cupcakes for another child's party and I am really pleased with the colours.

I'm now to complete my last cake for this week which is a number one birthday cake for a little man who likes Mickey Mouse x

This morning I received an email from a customer asking what time she could collect her cake.  At the time I was at The Mall (the first time in nearly a month) and when I read the  email I thought it was from the customer who I knew was collecting her cake, unfortunately it wasn't the same lady, it was in fact someone that I had booked into the wrong month.  This is the first time this has ever happened and I went into a state of panic (I do not work well under pressure)!  Anyway, i cut short my shopping trip and returned home empty handed to make this lovely cake.

50th Birthday Cake

My first cake of this week is for a gentleman who is going to be celebrating his 50th birthday and just happens to be a builder.  The lady who  has arranged the cake provided me with a picture of her husband which is a little worrying because I am no Tracey Emin.   However, I have done my best, and all I can do now is hope that my efforts are appreciated!

I am not going to be doing very much work in July as my extension in nearing the knock through stage, and I think I am needed for painting duties!  But come August hopefully I will be producing some masterpieces in my new look super light kitchen.

Labour of 'LOVE'

At last I have finished this weeks creation!  The bride has already had a sneak preview and is absolutely thrilled.  It is my first ever wonky cake and working out quantities for the tins was a nightmare!
