Cascading blossoms wedding cake for a very lovely lady!

Yesterday I finished working on another wedding cake for a lovely lady named Lorraine who is marrying an equally charming gentleman named Alan.  When I was first introduced to them it was with a view to making them a topper for a bought cake, from here we moved onto me making the cakes as well.  As the months have gone by Lorraine has been following my work on Facebook and she loves my work with flowers so we decided to  change the design again and the final cake ended up with a cascade of burgundy blossoms.   I varied the shades of the blossoms as burgundy is such a difficult colour to colour match and can vary greatly.  This is the final result, which they both seemed very happy with and I look forward to being able to post some pics of the actual day.  Have a beautiful day, both of you and enjoy a long and happy life together!

One final note, last  I went out for a wonderful meal with my husband and parents at a beautiful restaurant named Kondi Brasserie in Henzleaze.  The food was incredible as was the service and the ambiance was so relaxing.  It was decorated very simply with some beautiful paintings on the wall and somehow felt very special.  I found it very difficult to  choose from their wonderful menu and will definitely being returning soon for a Sunday roast which also sounded wonderful.  For thoses of you who are interested, this is the link:- http://www.kondibrasserie.co.uk/

Miniature cakes for a wedding cake tower

Tuesday I finished working on 40 miniature cakes for a wedding cake tower.  They involved a huge amount of work and were baked in 4 different flavours, chocolate truffle with nutella, luscious lemon with lemon curd buttercream, vanilla with strawberry jam and buttercream and finally orange and poppy seed.  Icing cakes this size and achieving a good finish is incredibly time consuming and I dread to think what my hourly rate actually worked out to, but sometimes it's more about the opportunity to create something beautiful and different and very fitting of their venue which is Cotswolds 88.

I am now in the process of icing a two tier fruit wedding cake for a lovely lady named Lorraine who is getting married  this Saturday.

I hope  that all of you have long and happy lives together!

Crazy!

Today is a momentous occasion, all my children are back at school and Grace , who starts school tomorrow, is spending some time with her Auntie Pauline and Nanny Owen to allow me to start to assemble the 40 mini wedding cakes that I need to have ready by tomorrow evening.  It is a huge task, and it has just taken me 3 1/2 hours to base coat them.  Next I need to top coat them and add all the detail!  When I have accomplished that task I need to concentrate on a wedding cake which is needed for next Saturday and after that  i take a deep breath and begin preparing for the two golden wedding and 1 christening cake for the following week.  In between all that I have Libby's birthday Wednesday and Ben and James(my 23 year old twins) birthday on the 18th.

It feels very strange to walk into my lounge and not to find Tracey Beaker or MTV blaring out, and where is the blob that has resided on my sofa with it's feet up for what seems like the last 5 months?

Anyway, time to crack on now!
