Job Done!

I am so, so excited about the cake I have made this week.  I truly believe that is the best I have ever done!  I have worked so hard to achieve the finished result and hopefully that is reflected in the cake? 

All that is left now for me to do is package it up safely and hand it over to the daughter of the lucky couple who are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this Saturday.

Now I can think about packing cases!  Yippee!!

18th Birthday Cupcakes

I am getting very excited now, my holiday is only 9 days away!!  My little girls have been ticking off their 'sleeps' chart and we are all dreaming of warmer climates.

I have just finished a batch of very pretty cupcakes today for an eighteenth birthday and then after that I have just one more cake.

Today's cupcakes were vanilla flavour but one batch had chocolate buttercream and the other had bubblegum flavoured buttercream.  It is the first time I have used that particular flavouring and I was really impressed with the taste.

I had another job confirm last night for my first weekend back and I also filled another workshop within an hour of advertising it , for the 16th of July.  So it looks like although the economy is in a double dip, in times of uncertainty people turn to cakes for comfort.  Thank goodness for that!!

I am sooo.. excited about my workshop tomorrow!  I quite literally haven't been able to sleep at night because i have had so many ideas spinning around my head.  It was really very important to me to come up with designs that are unique (except for one which I love) so that the people attending the course go away feeling that they really have had value for money and also that they have learnt and experienced techniques that are new to them.  I aim to show how to use a variety of different fondant based toppings and also how to use a variety of tools.

These are three of the four i have come up with, unfortunately number 4 is unfinished due to issues with my Sugarveil mix which hopefully will be resolved for tomorrow!

I have had a quiet week in cake terms but certainly not in noise level terms!  I cannot wait for my girls to go back to school and I am so glad that I only committed to the one cake this week!!!

The cake is for the son of a school friend, and he is celebrating his 21st birthday tomorrow.

As I am typing this I have just taken a call from my son who always played for St. Mary's RFC and he asked me what I was doing posting a picture of a Dings top on my Facebook wall, so at least I know it is recognisable as a Dings shirt!!

Anyway, happy birthday for tomorrow Louis.

I only have one more large cake before I jet off to Egypt, but is is going to beautiful, so keep an eye out!
