Cake Pops
I have really tried to stay away from the latest craze for cake pops, but I have to admit, I'm smitten. Not only are they a fantastic way to use up all the lovely cake tops that I would normally let my kids pick at, but they are also actually yummy!
Here are a batch that I made today for our school Christmas Fayre:-

A few cupcakes for the school cake sale
My good friend Pauline is now doing a fabulous job of running Almondsbury School cake sale. Each year takes it in turn to host a cake sale and they are then allowed to spend the proceeds on equipment for their own classroom.
Since Pauline took on this role takings have climbed and climbed and today's bootie was a wonderful £132!
These are a few of the cupcakes that I baked for the occasion.

WRFU ball 18th cake
My one and only big cake this week is for a young man who is celebrating his 18th birthday this weekend and who is very proud of his Welsh roots.
I am slowing down my work load because of an imminent operation which means after next week's cake I won't have anything to share with you until the New Year.

Pink Party Shoes
My final cake of the week is for a young lady who is celebrating her 21st birthday. Unfortunately, she recently discovered that she was diabetic and as a compromise the cake has only got fondant on the top and I have used diabetic jam instead of the usual. When I had finished levelling the cake my kids all appeared out of nowhere for the scraps and all were in agreement that the cake was 'lush' and that the diabetic jam tasted good and if not better than conventional.
Happy 21st Lydia!

50th Wedding Anniversary Cake
I have really been struggling to work this week and this cake has probably taken me a lot longer to make than it usually would, but the end result was worth it! The cake is for a close friend of my mother-in-law Penelope, and the lady in question , Hatty was let down by another cake maker any I was available to fill in. Lucky me, because it's just the sort of cake that I love to make!

21st birtday cake with peonies and girlie cupcake tower
My final cake of the week is for the daughter of my lovely friend Helen. We have been friends since we were at school and probably only catch up 3 or 4 times a year, but that's all we need to put the world to right, and have a good girlie chat.
Helen left the design up to me, so long as it was feminine, and I took this as an opportunity to make peonies to go on the main cake.

Strawberry whoopie pies!
These little treasures really are my idea of heaven! I adapted a recipe from the Hummingbird book and the resulting cakes are absolutely amazing! Those lucky people at LV are going to find it hard to choose tomorrow!
These cakes are all the rave in The States at the moment and now I know why. Made using natural yogurt and whole milk to bind the mix together, they are incredibly light and tasty. They are then sandwiched together with a buttercream and vanilla fluff. Yum yum!
Blue eyed black lemur
Enjoy a wonderful day Sunday with all your family!
