I am really proud to be able to say that Yummy Mummy's Cakes is going to be creating a cake to celebrate 90 years of The Royal School of Mines Chaps Club!
The Chaps Club was founded in 1921, the oldest of the Imperial Tie Clubs, with the aim of furthering the interests of its members and of the Royal School of Mines'. Membership has always been by invitation only, and those students who are deemed to have given the most to the RSM, be it on the sports pitch, in the Union office or the Union Bar may be offered the chance to join. I am very proud to be able to say that my son Benjamin was recently asked to join after achieving a first from Imperial, where he is now studying his doctorate. He will also have the huge responsibility of transporting the cake back up to London for me!
Things are going well with the preparations for The Bristol Baby and Toddler Show and I have now nearly completed two cakes, just one more cake and several cupcakes to make as well as the Super Mario cart cake that is going out at the end of the week. Wish me luck!xx
At Scrummy Mummy's Cakes (previously Yummy Mummy's) I bake and create cakes that not only look lovely but taste SCRUMMY too. I will work with you to design a cake that fits the occassion and meets your budget. Please take a look at my cakes at the bottom of the page! All cakes are made with the freshest possible ingredients from my farm kitchen in Lower Almondsbury. I only use unsalted butter and my eggs come from my own free-range chickens and ducks, resulting in the tastiest cakes ever!

Panic Stations!!!!
My poor feet haven't touched the ground today. At this precise moment I'm meant to be reproducing a newspaper for the cake I'm finishing but I am losing my get up and go, in fact it has just got up and gone. The tiredness is probably due to the lack of sleep, mainly down to the lists I keep writing in my head in advance of March 6th and secondly because the pesky horses knocked the fence down last night to get to my lovely green front lawn!!
In the last two days I have been working really hard and have almost finished two cakes, one which is for the show and is amazing (not going on here yet though) and one for a gentleman's 65th, and that's looking quite cool too. All this with the kids on half term hols. Anyway I'm off to finish off now and then to the wine :~)

Bright Colours
I am refreshed from a wonderful weekend away with all my husbands family to celebrate Pen elope's 70th birthday. We went to Manor House near Oakhampton and had a fabulous time, I would recommend it to anyone! We had quite a traumatic start to the weekend when our topbox flew open on the M5. We pulled over, did it up and carried on to our destination assuming that all was well. When John went to bring the cases in some time later he discovered that we were missing Grace's case. I was mortified and we took a quick trip to Oakhampton for essentials. But would you believe it? All the clothes were still on the side of the motorway totally undamaged so we did a quick look around assisted by the Highways agency and recovered everything except the case and one trainer!
Moving on to the subject of cakes, I love to use bright colours and I had the opportunity with this cake which is for the mother of a lady who has a few cakes from Yummy Mummy's now.

Spring Is In The Air!
This week I've been working on a cake for a young man that I used to child mind named Dan. I can't upload his cake yet because he is one of my fans on Face Book and it's not quite his birthday. It was exactly a year ago that I made my first cake that kick started this business and it was the first cake I ever uploaded to Face Book, as you can see it has been a steep learning curve with a lot of tears along the way.
Spring is beginning to pop up all over my garden and that was the theme for my mother-in-law Penelope's 70th birthday cake. We are all going away tomorrow for the weekend (including our relatives from Sweden) to a manor house hotel for lots of fun (and alcohol I expect) so I have the dubious responsibility of trying to get her cake there in one piece!
I will post Dan's cake when I get back along with another one that is going out Monday.
Have a good weekend and happy birthday Din Dan x

It's Been A Busy Week!
It's been a hectic week this week and I've been having a few problems with my internet, hence the lack of posts! So far I made an 18th birthday cupcake tower with a top cake, a Peppa Pig 3rd birthday cake and a small cake which is a prize for a small gymkhana on our livery yard this weekend. There's still several boxes of valentines cupcakes to make and John's birthday cake to sort out! (Think I might get the girls involved in decorating their daddy's cake).
My chickens are enjoying the warmer weather and are now laying at least twelve eggs a day and all three of the ducks are laying. Duck eggs make the most wonderful sponges so I try to keep their eggs for my cakes!

Busy, Busy, Busy!!
Today marks the start the start of another really busy week. I received some lovely feedback for last weeks cakes and that always makes you to want to get going with something new. I have several completely diverse jobs on so I started off by making the toppers today which included 18 mini shoes and a matching bigger one and yet another Peppa Pig (this only really is extremely lovely). No pictures of cakes until the end of the week when they all go out to the birthday boys and girls, so I've included some of my favourites from last summer x

The Cake That Tested My Patience!
This is it! Finally I have finished the Harley Davidson cake complete with rider. It is so difficult working with black fondant, when you strengthen it it goes grey and black is very sticky without additives. The topper itself was very fiddly but I think I have made a good representation of the real thing?

Happy Birthday Tom Edwards - 18 Today!
Happy birthday to Tom Edwards who is 18 today and is off to Cheltenham with his mum Karen to get his first (and hopefully only) tattoo to remember his best friends Eamon and Charlie. Have a wonderful day out and enjoy the cake! Just in case any one is wondering "why the builders bum?" Tom is training to take over the family building business one day. x

What a difference a bit of sushine makes!
Wow hasn't it been lovely to bask in a bit of sun today? All of a sudden the chickens are laying again. 12 eggs today!
I have just finished an 18th birthday cake today for a friend and she is dying to see it so I have just emailed her the pictures because I can't post them yet.
The cake for Thursday is now in the oven and smells lush! So far the Harley Davidson to go on top seems to be going quite well but I'm not going to uncross my fingers until it's stood up on top of the cake with rider astride!
