By this time next week my extension will be finished!!!! Yippee!! My last few tiles are being laid as we speak and they they look wonderful.
I have only been taking on a minimal amount of work while the work has been going on and this week has been a rather special cake for a young lady named Paris who will be 21. I recently made her dad's 50th as well so it's really good to be getting the repeat business.
I have had a really busy week for enquiries this week, even booking a job into January which is also a really good feeling. One of the enquiries was for 40 mini cakes in a silver, grey and pearl theme. They are to for part of a wedding tower, and the bride's sister is making the top cake, so I have bought enough ribbon to allow me to send some to her to tie the colour theme of the two together. The bride Sandy is getting married in a rather spectacular venue named Cotswolds 88 and the room is done out in a rather stunning black and white decor, so she wants everything else to coordinate. I have a free rein over the design of the cakes which is very exciting, and i can see myself getting rather carried away!
For now here are the pictures of this week's cake:-
At Scrummy Mummy's Cakes (previously Yummy Mummy's) I bake and create cakes that not only look lovely but taste SCRUMMY too. I will work with you to design a cake that fits the occassion and meets your budget. Please take a look at my cakes at the bottom of the page! All cakes are made with the freshest possible ingredients from my farm kitchen in Lower Almondsbury. I only use unsalted butter and my eggs come from my own free-range chickens and ducks, resulting in the tastiest cakes ever!

Disco inferno!
This is my first cake in a while and it was produced on about 2ft of work surface, so please excuse any imperfections! It is for a little boy named Ben who is celebrating his 6th birthday this weekend with a disco party. Enjoy your day Ben!

It's amazing how you adapt to what's available!
Today I have made 60 cupcakes in my rather compact and bijou kitchen. It really was a challenge as I have spent a large amount of the day without electricity! The worst bit was watching all the dishes piling up in the sink because I was also without hot water, and buttercream needs lots of hot water to remove it.
I decorated the bulk of the cakes with a simple buttercream swirl as they were for my daughter's playgroup leaving party, but the rest were a little more elaborately decorated as they were gifts for my two older daughters' teachers. This is what their presentation box of four cakes looked like.

Scrummy Mummy's is almost ready to rock and roll!
I have had an amazing few weeks that have resulted in my house being turned upside down, but all for a really fab reason, a new super duper kitchen and more space! I am really desperate to get back to my cakes now and today I made the first steps to resuming business as normal.
I have a disco themed cake to make for next weekend and today I have iced and sprayed the board and made the disco ball. I made the disco ball from rice crispies (an idea that my lovely cake mate Pauline shared with me) which reduces the weight of large cake toppers and then covered it in glitter tiles. This is a particularly messy job, and one that has to be cleaned up after really well or otherwise you find pieces of glitter in your fondant for weeks to come! I also managed to make a few flowers for 'thank you' cupcakes going out to my daughters' teachers next week. I thought I'd share them with you x

A light at the end of the tunnel!
Today I helped my dad to fit my new utility room which means that I am now a step closer to my dream kitchen and all the space I need to take my business to the next level. Before I became a mum I was a mechanical engineer at British Aerospace and I like nothing better than a little bit of DIY. My main kitchen will be lovely and light and with fabulous granite worktops for rolling out my fondant on.
I have several cakes booked into September but there is still some availability at the end of August so if you are thinking of surprising a loved one or colleague with a special treat then please give me a call and we can conspire to come with something really special!!

Wow, what a difference a little bit of sunnshine makes!!
We have had a lovely weekend in our household, with most of it spent outside. Unfortunately I don't have any cakes to share with you but thought you might enjoy this photo of my little girlie's at home on the farm!
